SUMMARY: 

Achievers College Experience (ACE) summer programs is a week-long college and career readiness experiences for rising 12th grade College Success Foundation (CSF) Achievers. Summer program activities include college application workshops, college tours at various campuses in WA, SAT/ACT test prep, team building and networking with other Achievers and more. The goal of ACE summer programs is for students to be more equipped to develop, initiate and deliver on their post-secondary education plans during their senior year.

The program takes place at various high school and college campuses throughout Washington State.

Each Summer Program Assistant (SPA) is responsible for providing supervision, guidance and support to CSF Achievers Scholars attending the event. SPA's will work closely with advisors and CSF staff.

PROGRAM DATES:

  • ACE Orientation: Monday July 1, 2019
  • ACE Program: Monday, July 8th - Friday, July 12th 2019

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Provide administrative support and program preparation prior to, during and after one specific ACE program (listed above) for a total of 90 hours (total temp assignment).
  • Work on-site with CSF advisors and ACE volunteers to provide support and some student supervision for student arrival, welcome, orientation, and departure each day.
  • Provide general support to CSF advisors and ACE volunteers.
  • Assist with student attendance tracking during workshops and at other checkpoints throughout the program.
  • Assist with workshop and activity coordination and logistics.
  • Attend, and fully participate in, all SPA trainings. 
  • Provide coordination and logistical support for opening and closing ceremonies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent organization, planning, and communication skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and develop positive relationships with students, counselors, volunteers, and CSF staff.
  • Ability to demonstrate patience, flexibility, empathy, professionalism, and good judgement even in stressful situations.
  • Respect for human diversity in all its forms, and commitment to facilitating a safe and inclusive environment for all students, volunteers, and staff.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:

  • Must have access to reliable transportation to and from high schools. 
  • Experience with event planning, administrative support, or youth development programming a plus.
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree or 1-2 years of work experience preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work environment is moderately noisy. There is exposure to dust and changes in weather conditions. Employee must be able to handle stress that is involved in meeting strenuous customer deadlines, working in high volume areas, and be flexible and able to interact with employees and students of all levels.
