Achievers College Experience (ACE) Summer Program is a 3-day/2-night program for rising high school seniors designed to improve both academic and social preparedness for college.

The program takes place on the campuses of Seattle Pacific University (SPU), University of Washington (UW) and Western Washington University (WWU). Students and staff will reside on SPU campus during the entire program in gender-specific residential halls.

Each Counselor is responsible for providing supervision, guidance and support to College Success Foundation (CSF) Achievers Scholars attending the event. Counselors will work closely with other counselors and CSF staff while residing on campus during the program.

Program Dates:

  • ACE Training: Thursday, June 13, 2019, 9am-4:30pm (Spokane, CSF regional office)
  • ACE Program: Tuesday, June 18th 20th , 2019 (residential at SPU, WWU & UW)


  • Provide supervision, guidance, and support to all ACE participants attending the event.
  • Work in teams of 2 3 counselors and volunteers to supervise age-based cohorts of students.
  • Co-lead workshops with assigned group of students, attend and participate in all workshops, provide support to the workshop presenters and activity facilitators as appropriate.
  • Take attendance in each of the assigned sessions and at other checkpoints throughout the program.
  • Contact the appropriate CSF supervisor if student issues arise.
  • Seek to empower students as leaders within their cohorts.
  • Interact with students in ways that support personal growth.
  • Communicate effectively with assigned students individually, in groups, and via text and phone.
  • Attend, and fully participate in, all counselor trainings.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Passion for working with high school students and helping them realize their potential.
  • Personal knowledge of, or an interest in learning about students and their diverse learning needs and the communities from which they come.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and develop positive relationships with students as well as fellow counselors, volunteers, and CSF staff.
  • Ability to stay focused on student needs and safety while demonstrating patience, flexibility, empathy, professionalism, and good judgement even in stressful situations.
  • Respect for human diversity in all its forms, and commitment to facilitating a safe and inclusive environment for all students, volunteers, and staff.


  • Must be a currently enrolled college or graduate student in good standing, or a recent graduate within the last two years.
  • Experience as a camp counselor, facilitating after-school or enrichment programs, coaching youth sports teams, or other youth development experience a plus.
  • We strongly encourage alumni of CSF programming, and CSF scholarship recipients (or former recipients) to apply.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to; reach with hands and arms and talk and hear and stand and walk. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.


Work environment is moderately noisy. There is exposure to dust and changes in weather conditions. Employees must be able to handle stress and be flexible and able to interact with students employees at all levels.


The position may change based upon needs of the program and/or organizational needs and available funding.
