The College Bound Regional Officer (CBRO) is a member of the Washington College Access Network (WCAN) statewide team. In this leadership role, the CBRO works in partnership with WCAN and the Washington Student Achievement Council to design and implement a regional strategic plan supports WCANs statewide College Bound Scholarship (CBS) outreach plan. The College Bound Regional Officer is responsible for providing strategic support to the region, ensuring practitioners ability to maintain or increase:

Implementation includes partnership engagement strategies including regional practitioner workshops, customized College Bound Scholarship trainings, CBS technical support, and the promotion of regional college access initiatives and opportunities.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Planning

  • Develop and implement a regional outreach and engagement plan that effectively advances College Bound Scholarship scholar support through key partnerships, targeted strategies and activities
  • Work in collaboration with the Washington College Access Network (WCAN) team to ensure efforts align with state and national initiatives and promote opportunities for regional practitioner engagement
  • Work in collaboration with WCAN communications staff to ensure strategic alignment to statewide and regional communications strategies

Partnership Development

  • Engage staff from schools, districts, and community-based organizations to tailor College Bound sign-ups and support-service strategies based on the environment and ensure practitioner adoption and integration of CBS in their schools and districts
  • Develop and grow strategic partnerships with district influencers for the purpose of building sustainable CBS support systems
  • Facilitate professional development opportunities that improve practitioner's ability to provide high-impact support services to College Bound scholars
  • Manage and implement individual intake and training and technical support processes with high-needs schools/districts to increase practitioner effectiveness and results

Outreach

  • Support college and career readiness events and community conversations that further engagement with the College Bound Scholarship program and increase regional adoption of College Bound sign-up and support strategies
  • Maintain current school, district and community-based contact database
  • Support promotion of regional trainings, workshops and presentations

Reporting and Analysis

  • Partner with Research and Evaluation to analyze trends in key data points and continually use analysis to develop strategies that inform prioritization of support to school districts
  • Track conversations, trainings and meetings with school, district and community staff
  • Track analytics for training and assessments and implement changes based on results
  • Develop and maintain an annual regional budget

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Experience in partnership development and implementation
  • Skills in training, coaching, and facilitation
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal, oral and written communications skills
  • Ability to self-motivate and work independently
  • Ability to identify and solve problems
  • Ability to travel up to 40% of the time and fluctuates throughout the year. Must have a valid driver's license and proof of insurance
  • Familiarity with K12 and postsecondary systems preferred
  • Familiarity with the communities served by the region and recent effective involvement with practitioners preferred
  • A commitment to scholarships and longitudinal student supports as levers for social justice and educational equity
  • Bilingual is a plus
  • A commitment to diversity and equal opportunity

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • A minimum of five year's related work experience.  Experience in K-12 or higher education, community organizing, leadership development, training, teaching or school counseling is preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk and hear.  The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work environment is moderately quiet.  Employees must be able to handle stress that is involved in meeting strenuous deadlines, and be flexible and able to interact with employees at all levels.

The College Bound Regional Officer position is remote, employees must be comfortable with working from a home office.
