SUMMARY: The Senior Marketing & Strategic Communications Officer works closely with the Marketing & Strategic Communications Director in developing and implementing marketing and communications strategies and tactics that are aligned with the foundation's mission, values, key messages and strategic priorities.


  • Website content management: Create and edit dynamic content for foundation websites. Support redesign or refresh of website, as needed.
  • Social media management: Manage CSF social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube.
  • Analysis: Track, evaluate and summarize analysis for all interactive marketing media platforms (website, social media and electronic communications) and provide regular reports for continuous improvement.
  • Digital communications: Manage the digital e-blast communications tool. Support cross-functional staff in proper use and leverage insights and best practices to strengthen. Support redesign or refresh of digital e-blast tool, as needed.
  • Public relations: Support public relations activities, including news releases, interviews, op-ed pieces, pitch letters and story follow-up pieces. Update and maintain the website media centers.
  • Content creation: Help write a variety of marketing content including brochures, publications, various collateral for various audiences of scholars and external supporters.
  • Storytelling: Collaborate with colleagues to interview, write and publish stories about organizational impact, programs, scholars, alumni, staff and supporters.
  • Photo asset management: Manage photos and other digital assets for strategic deployment by various team members.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with the team to provide broad-based marketing and strategic communications thought-leadership support to various program, external relations and organization-wide initiatives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; including writing and editing for voice and tone.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively across a multi-functional team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office365 tools (Word, Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint); Adobe Acrobat and WordPress.

  • Bachelor's Degree is required.
  • Minimum seven (7) years of relevant and progressive professional experience in marketing and strategic communications.
  • Nonprofit experience is a plus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to; reach with hands and arms and talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.

Work environment is moderately quiet. Employees must be able to handle stress that is involved in meeting strenuous customer deadlines, working in high volume areas and be flexible and able to interact with employees and students of all levels.

The position may change based upon needs of the program and/or organizational needs and available funding.
